ITINERARY

It will be a pleasure to meet you and tour you around, showing you every place of interest in Montevideo,Uruguay . We will go across the “Old City neigborhood “ historic Spanish Colonial sites, as the 1805 year old Cathedral and Town Hall.

We will visit Montevideo Jewish Heritage Community buildings mixed with the most Montevideo highlights.

Along the Coastline, with beautiful views, we will visit the Punta Carretas neighborhood. and the upscale Pocitos neighbourhood. We will go by Temples Community Schools, Hillel so you will learn about our community life.

We will visit the Holocaust Memorial facing the Rio de la Plata. The only memorial in South America and one of the most important in the World.

We may visit the Carrasco Garden neighborhood,the Parliament and the World Soccer 1930 Stadium.

We end the tour at the typical Port Market at the Port Area.

THE DISCOVERY ROOM shows the model of Columbus Ships. An indian canoe, the presence of one of the means which enabled the a native american people the domain of the natural ways of communication.

THE BATTLE OF THE RIVER PLATE

Two months after WWII , started in 1939 a naval battle between Nazi Germany and Britain took place in front of Punta del Este, 6 miles from our shores.

German battleship "Graf Spee" was damaged and entered at Montevideo Port for repairements.

This episode in December 1939, of the Second World War touched us very closely. Britain cruises "Ajax", "Exeter", "Achilles", waited outside Montevideo Bay the Graf Spee to come out and face them again.

German captain decided to blow out the ship, instead, and the ship was drowned a few miles from Montevideo coast.

A 150mm cannon belonging to the German battleship "Graf Spee",was installed on the campus of the Naval Museum
